Welcome

Hi, I'm Tauseef, an economics major in my senior year at CMC. Probably not a day goes by when you do not use word processing software of some sort. Whether you are writing a letter, creating a flyer, or working on a resume, you’re bound to use software like Microsoft Word.  While the basic features might suffice, there are tools which can help you work more quickly and effectively, whether you want to automatically generate a table of contents, or format your resume just the way you want it.

In this program, I will cover the basic features of Word, and discuss some of the tools you might find handy when creating that flyer for the event you have planned, or writing that 50 page year-long thesis.

Objectives:

By the time you have finished this study guide, you will be able to:

  • Use all of the Standard and Formatting tools, as well as understand the other toolbars available in Word
  • Apply advanced formatting features in order to create effective documents, using both text, graphics, and other objects
  • Create professional long documents using a table of contents, appendix, and other formatting tools
  • Engage in collaborative document editing

Workload:

You should be able to finish the entire program in about two hours.  If you prefer, you can cover the basics, and then jump ahead to the module that might benefit you most, such as creating a resume, or generating a flyer.
