Interface Overview
The interface of Microsoft Word is toolbar-driven, that is, most of the basic things you want to do will be accessible through the toolbar buttons. (The interface will vary by version; for our learning program, we will use Microsoft Office Word 2003).
DIY: Please open Microsoft Word if you haven’t already, and locate the Title bar, Menu bar, Toolbars, task pane, layout/view choices, and the Status bar on the Word interface.

Toolbars provide shortcuts to tasks or features which might otherwise require several mouse clicks. There are several toolbars which are available in Word, and they can be accessed by right-clicking on the toolbar area and selecting which toolbars you want displayed. For most of the Word projects, you will be using the Standard, Formatting and Drawing toolbars.
