CMC's Policies

Rules and Regulations

When you first came to CMC, you might have gone through an orientation session that touches on academic dishonesty.

In the Statement of Academic Integrity on CMC’s website, plagiarism is defined as:

“. . . the use of the thoughts, ideas, words, phrases or research of another person or source as one's own without explicit and accurate attribution . . . In keeping with this definition, all work, whether written or oral, submitted or presented by students at the College as part of course assignments or for College sponsored extracurricular activities, must be the original work of the student unless otherwise specified by the instructor.”

If you are caught plagiarizing or cheating, your professor will report you to the Academic Standards Committee, which receives statements and other evidence from the instructor and the student.  After reviewing the case, the Committee comes up with a verdict.  If they find that academic dishonesty has taken place, they decide upon a punishment.
